Бейби Йода — это новый символ интернета
На стриминг-сервисе Disney+ с ноября идёт сериал «Мандалорец» — это проект Джона Фавро («Железный человек», «Книга джунглей», «Король Лев») по вселенной «Звёздных войн».
Космический вестерн рассказывает историю война-мандалорца, которого играет Педро Паскаль («Игра престолов», «Наркос»). Но уже к концу первой серии стало понятно, что главным героем сериала станет «Бейби Йода» — так в интернете назвали персонажа того же вида, что и Йода. Только здесь это младенец (пусть и 50-летний, потому что «разные виды взрослеют по-разному»). Существует ли какая-то ещё связь между Йодой оригинальным и Бейби Йодой, сериал (пока что) умалчивает.
Многие тут же бросились искать мерч с малышом Йодой, но столкнулись с проблемой: игрушек не будет в продаже до Нового года. Это нетипично и для компании Disney, и для рынка игрушек вообще. Обычно партии фигурок и мягких игрушек с ключевыми персонажами отгружают в магазины ещё до премьеры фильма или сериала. Но Джон Фавро и команда «Мандалорца» очень хотели, чтобы появление Бейби Йоды осталось сюрпризом — и Disney отложили старт продаж игрушек до начала 2020 года.
В интернете же Бейби Йоду сразу растянули на мемы. После первых серий самый популярный из них — мини-Йода удивлённо смотрит куда-то наверх, картинка дополняется смешной подписью. Любимый вариант внутри редакции — ниже.

Бейби Йоду тут же сравнили с культовым героем оригинальных фильмов и вспомнили одну из главных его цитат: «Делай или не делай. Не надо пытаться» — «Бумер, окей».

После выхода четвёртого эпизода появилось сразу два новых мема. В одном из них Бейби Йода беззаботно пьёт чай. В другом — нажимает на кнопки в космическом корабле Мандалорца (по мем-версии — чтобы включить музыку).
